Art of the Harlem Renaissance

The Harlem Renaissance was an artistic movement that took place in Harlem, New York. During the 1920s, a unique group of artists, writers and thinkers was active in Harlem; this group introduced a generation of artists who sought to re-imagine the ‘new Negro’ as a powerful, creative and inspiring figure for a new beginning. They fought hard to make African American art visible to a large audience, changing the way the world viewed their art.
Join Beth Stein as she discusses the major artists who contributed to this unique cultural phenomenon in the history of American art.
